This week's book: "What’s Your Dream?" by Simon Squibb.

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
Lao Tzu

I've worked on an oil rig in Oklahoma, traded on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade, started businesses, coached youth sports, and run a nonprofit. Here's the truth about all of it: not one of those came from a perfect plan. Every one started the same way, with me taking the next step before I could see how it would turn out.

That's the lesson running through this week's book, and Squibb takes it further than most. He landed his very first gardening job before he even owned a lawn mower or a single tool to do it with. He figured he'd sort out the equipment once he had the work. From that kind of scrappy start, he went on to build and sell a company, then used that freedom to help other people chase their dreams. He never waited for permission or the perfect setup. He just kept moving.

One thing to try today
If you've got a dream that's been sitting on the shelf, identify one small action you can take this week. Momentum creates opportunities, and it always begins with a single step. Figure out that first simple step and build a little momentum toward your dream.

What's a dream you've quietly shelved? Hit reply, I read every one.

I'll go first: for me, that dream is All Star Mentors. Posting on LinkedIn and sending these emails each week is me taking the step, however imperfect it might be.
