This week's book: “The 5AM Club" by Robin Sharma.
"All change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end."
Robin Sharma
It's Saturday, so let's pull the week together.
This week was really about one idea: that the first hour of your day, customized by you and used on purpose, quietly decides the rest of it.
Here's the week in four lines:
Tuesday, the 20/20/20 formula, twenty minutes each to move, reflect, and grow, so you set the day's terms before the world sets them for you.
Wednesday, you're more than your mindset. You're tending four interior empires at once, mind, heart, body, and spirit, and focusing on only one while letting three of them run on empty makes the whole thing wobble.
Thursday, real leadership is quiet. The genuinely secure spend their energy lifting others instead of advertising themselves.
Friday, the Grow block is the twenty minutes that compounds the most. Twenty minutes of learning a day adds up to a different person over a year.
If you keep just one thing, make it this: you don't have to overhaul your life. Own the first hour, start almost absurdly small, and let the days do the compounding.
One challenge for the week ahead
Pick one piece of that hour, move, reflect, or grow, and do it every morning this week. Even ten minutes counts. And when it feels pointless midweek, and it will, remember the line up top: change is messy in the middle. That's not failure. That's just the middle. Keep going to the gorgeous part.
Which of the three, move, reflect, or grow, are you going to claim this week? Hit reply, I read every one.
I'll go first: I'm claiming grow. Twenty minutes of reading before the house wakes up, no excuses.
Next week
We're reading "Don’t Believe Everything You Think" by Joseph Nguyen . Here is an example of something that jumped out to me early in the book: to be free and at peace we need to abandon our fight or flight programming, we are not a product of environment but a co-creator of it and with that understanding we can shift our experience of reality from merely surviving to thriving.
If you'd like to read along, this weekend's a good time to grab a copy, and the Kindle version is instant.
